The Athens Flying Week takes place this year in Tanagra

The biggest air show of Greece, the Athens Air Flying Week (AFW) Tanagra International Air Show 2017, is taking place for the second consecutive year from Tanagra Air Base in September (16 and 17/9), culminating in the Athens Flying Week 2017.

The 6th Athens Flying Week, Tanagra International Air Show 2017, will be more functional and friendly than ever for spectators, according to the organizers.

The UK’s legendary Red Arrows from Britain’s BAE Systems Hawk T1 will take part. The Polish Air Force participates multiple with the MIG-29 Demo Team, their new F-16 Tiger Polish Demo Team and the Bialo- Iskry Team. This will be the Belgian Air Force with the F-16 Solo Display Team, the German Air Force with the Tornado ECR. In addition, world champion Johan Gustafsson with his glider, who will come from Sweden to fascinate with his aerial performance, drawing the night sky of Tanagra with fireworks, music and acrobatics.

From Italy, the Silver Chicken Acrobat and Luca Bertosio’s highly popular youth champion, who will also perform his night performances this year, while Wingwalker favorite “Danielle Hughes” will captivate with her dancing figures on his wings Boeing Stearman.

From Switzerland, Schaerer & Partner Red Bull and from Holland Dutch Rush Aerobatics.

Hellenic Skydivers, the oldest school of its kind in Greece, will bring us into the world of free fall. The “Zeus” F-16 Demo Team, as well as the T-6 A “Daedalus” Demo Team of the Hellenic Air Force, together with other aircraft in a dynamic and static exhibition will be at the top position. Present will also be, as always, the airborne means of the Army, the Navy and the Security Corps.

From this year onwards and with the sole purpose of making it easier for all visitors and maximizing the visual enjoyment of flying activities, the center of the Air Show is transported to the most viewing spot of Tanagra airport. Parking, always free of charge, is now in a new location, within the airport, very close to the spectators’ area.

With the new siting, at this state-of-the-art Air Force aerodrome, the spectators have the opportunity to experience the take-off and landing operations of their favorite jet aircraft, as well as the spectacular spectacle of the massive smoke taxi, the acrobatic flocks, from a breathing distance.

They will be comfortably admired by all the aircraft of the largest static exposition in the country, will be photographed next to them with the pilots near them and will experience unique moments and experiences with the world-famous aeronautical acrobats as well as those of the jet fighters aerial choreographies that will not have a precedent.

There will also be two fully equipped restaurants with shaded areas for the public.

For the first time there will be flights of small drones this year. The small drones, flying at speeds of 150 km / h, follow the instructions of their pilot and perform their aerial demonstrations, offering a spectacular spectacle that you can watch either live or through the giant screens that will be everywhere, near you.

In addition, information on all types of air training in the country will be provided by the relevant air schools, Aeroclubs and Hellenic Aerospace Federation (ELAO). At the same time, aero modeling shows will be held, many original happenings, there will be a trade show, many more venues, a spacious bar and, as always, our exemplary and safe playground for our little friends.

The airshow that has hitherto gathered more than 250,000 fans from around the world will be held at the Tanagra Air Base on the weekend of September 16-17, 2017.
