8.4% increase in passenger traffic at Greek airports in the five months of 2017

From the statistics of the Civil Aviation Authority on the movement of airports in the five months of 2017, the following results appear:

The total number of passengers traveled in the five months (January – May) in 2017 reached 14,587,016, showing an increase of 8.4% compared to the corresponding period of 2016 where 13,451,932 passengers were displaced.

In particular, migrant passengers are more than 1,135,084 in the five-month period compared to the corresponding period in 2016.

The total number of flights to Greek airports amounted to 133,974 (of which 66,586 inland and 67,388 abroad), showing a marginal decrease of 0,8% (-5,7% for domestic flights and + 4,5% for foreign flights). with the equivalent of 2016 where 135,119 flights were made.

An increase of 5.9% in total passenger traffic (domestic / foreign) in May
The statistics for May 2017 show the following:

At 5.321.340 passengers, the total (-1.5% domestic passengers and + 8.8% foreign passengers) reached 5.9%, compared with the corresponding month of the previous year.

As far as the arrivals of foreign passengers for May 2017 were concerned, we had an increase of 8,8%, which corresponds to 2,132,829 passengers compared to May 2016 when arrivals of foreign passengers were 1.961.211

The largest passenger traffic in Athens, Heraklion, Rhodes, Thessaloniki and Chania
By way of example, the airports of Athens, Heraklion, Rhodes, Thessaloniki and Chania, according to the statistics of the Hellenic Air Force, showed the largest passenger traffic for May.

The highest percentage increase in passengers in the 5 months of 2017 in Paros, Mykonos and Naxos
The Civil Aviation Authority also reports that according to five-month statistics (January-May 2017), the airport with the highest passenger traffic growth rate is 113.2% (29.487 passengers in the five months period) 17 versus 13,578 in the corresponding period of 2016).

Mykonos Airport recorded a 36.2% passenger traffic increase (168.168 passengers compared to 123.461 last year).

A passenger increase of 35.1% had Naxos airport as it traveled 10,649 passengers in the five months of 2017 compared with 7,884 passengers that had moved in the five-month period of 2016.
